Giving Thanks!

November 26th, 2014

Shues
“Sometimes superheroes reside in the hearts of small children fighting big battles.” – Unknown

Thanksgiving is the time to spend with family, giving thanks and loving one another. This year our Magic One family is giving thanks for one special and brave little boy, Coy Shue.

On December 2, 2013, what should have been a routine surgery to remove Coy’s adenoids; Daniel, a Magic One employee, and his wife, Jenni Shue received news that no parent should ever have to hear. Coy was diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer called Chordoma. To give you an idea of how rare this cancer is the 50-year old doctor who gave them this news had never seen this diagnosis in all his years of practice, and probably never will again.

Shortly thereafter, Coy began a year of numerous surgeries and radiation. On Monday, April 21, 2014 the family traveled to Pittsburgh P.A. to meet with the team of doctors who would perform Coy’s surgeries.  Originally, he was scheduled for three surgeries but due to some complications Coy endured seven total surgeries. The family was warned of possible side effects as a result of the surgery. Such as, the potential of losing part of an artery in Coy’s brain that supplies blood, loss of motor skills and difficulty speaking, swallowing and eating for a period of time. However, Coy triumphed through it all!

In June, Coy and his family returned home to Charlotte for a short time to recover and regain their strength.

In mid-August they traveled to Boston for radiation called Proton Beam Therapy. Each day during the treatment, Coy was sedated and all though he knew it was going to taste bad and it would hurt, he endured the treatment with the loving support of his parents. At six years old, he displays tremendous strength and bravery that most adults would never have to experience.

CoyOn September 9th the following was posted on the blog “Care for Coy.org”

“Coy has once again proven that at 6 years old, he is strong beyond belief. He has officially participated in 5 full sessions of radiation and continues to get more determined to get rid of this cancer every day.”

Today, the Shue family is back home in Charlotte, NC. They will continue to fight this cancer for the rest of Coy’s life or until a cure is found. Every day they continue to give thanks for the doctors who helped their son fight this battle, the support of their family and friends and for the unbeatable strength of their amazing little boy- Coy.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of our Magic One Family and Friends!

A Happy Customer!

November 20th, 2014

Gabriel Rodriguez, a Magic One Paint Technician in Orlando, FL repaired the bumper on this 2010 Honda Accord. It had been previously damaged, and was initially repaired by a body shop. However, the bumper was not properly prepared; so, the paint started peeling from normal wear and tear of the road.

The customer brought the vehicle to Magic One to be repaired correctly. Gabriel sanded down the dead paint and basically, started over from scratch. The result is a beautifully restored bumper and a very happy customer!

Top 10 Things to Remember When You’re in an Accident

November 18th, 2014

17726632_m

We’ve all been there at least once and the sound of crashing metal is hard to forget. Whether it’s a minor fender bender or major accident, it can be an emotional experience and oftentimes, is extremely hectic and confusing. Even though it’s a stressful time, there are a few things you should remember to do to protect yourself and your interests.

  1. STOP! Never drive away even in a minor accident. You should assess the situation and turn on your hazard lights. If you’re able to move the car out of the way of traffic, do so but move to safety quickly.
  2. Call 911, especially if there are any injuries.
  3. ALWAYS call the police and file an accident report. Even if the other driver requests you not to call the police- do so right away!
  4. Give an accurate report to the police. Tell the investigating officer everything you remember and if you’re not sure about certain facts, let the officer know that too.
  5. Do not discuss the accident or admit fault to anyone, other than the police officer.
  6. Take pictures. You will want to document any damages to your vehicle and the other person’s vehicle; along with any physical injuries to you or your passengers.
  7. Exchange information. You should request the name, address and telephone numbers of every person involved; including insurance information. If there are any witnesses, obtain their documentation, as well.
  8. You will need to notify your own insurance carrier to report the accident, even if you are not at fault. They can help you file a claim with the other person’s insurance carrier and assist you with following up.
  9. Seek medical attention immediately. Sometimes physical injuries from a car accident will not become apparent until a few hours or days after the accident. You should go to your local emergency room or see your family physician.
  10. Keep a detail account of the accident. Document everything you remember about the accident. Make sure you include things like the time of day, the weather, traffic and road conditions at the time of the accident. You will want to keep a record of claim numbers, the adjusters information, receipts for a rental car or other expensed incurred as a result of the accident.

Unfortunately, accidents happen but it’s important to remember to stay calm and in control. Remember to take pictures and document everything. Additionally, if you have the misfortune of being in an accident or minor collision, and want your car to feel like new again, call us at Magic One- 704.504.5222.  We are here to help!

Let Magic One Put the “Bling” Back in Your Wheels

November 17th, 2014

DarrylWelch.jpg

So today, I’m at the bank. I make my deposit and start to leave. I put the car in drive and all of a sudden I hear that sound… that sound my beautiful alloy wheels make when they’re crushing up against the concrete curb. I want to cry! I’m so nauseated!

However, there is hope.  I work for the perfect company, Magic One. They know how to make my wheels go “bling-bling” again! Magic One/Interior Magic technicians are skillfully trained to repair those, “Oh My Goodness, what have I done,” moments!

Darryl Welch, one of our Interior tech, does just this type of repairs. To do it correctly, he uses a special pneumatic air tool to level down the damage and then sands it until it’s completely smooth. Once the surface is even and clear, he applies a solvent based paint to match the rims and finishes it up with a clear coat.

No matter how amazing your car looks, if your wheels are scratched or damaged it will ruin the appearance of your car; not to mention the hefty price tag to replace those alloy wheels. It’s sort of like a Christmas tree without the lights to make it shine. It just doesn’t work! Let Magic One put the “bling” back in your wheels and money back in your wallet. Call us at 704.504.5222 or visit our website at magiconeauto.com.
